Ooredoo Announces New CEO for Wataniya Palestine

Dr. Durgham Maraee to Lead Operations in Palestine

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo today announced that it has approved a new CEO-level appointment at one of its international operations.

Dr. Durgham Maraee, formerly the Chief Investment Officer of the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF), has been named as CEO of Wataniya Palestine, after accepting the resignation of the previous CEO Mr. Fayez Husseini.

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman, Ooredoo Group, said: “With today’s announcement, Ooredoo is demonstrating its commitment to our customers in Palestine, and our ambitions to provide them with a world-class network and superlative customer experience.”  

“Dr. Durgham Maraee has extensive experience in business management, private equity and investment, and will provide strong, resolute leadership for this important market,” he added.

As CIO of the PIF, Dr. Maraee held a senior role at Palestine’s largest institutional investor with more than US$800 million worth of assets under management. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Dr. Maraee holds a Doctorate degree in International Law from Harvard University.
